Can I change the power with which my water closet is flushing?

Yes, it is possible (although only slightly) to change the toilet’s flushing power on your own. To do this, you’ll have to adjust the water level in your toilet’s tank and then change the slack in the chain.

The pressure within a gravity-fed water closet can be increased by adding more water to the tank. To make everything a bit easier, you should replace your flap with an adjustable flap. In that way, you won’t have to change it regularly when you want to change the power of your toilet flushes.

What is ADA compliance?

As you’ve probably noticed in our reviews, some toilets on the market are “ADA-compliant”. What does this mean?

Whenever a specific model of a flushing toilet is bearing this certification, it means that it meets the requirements set by ADA’s “Standards for Accessible Design” from 2010. Fully implemented in 2011, these are standards that all water closets located inside public restrooms have to meet.

To be more precise, an ADA-compliant toilet should never be higher than 19” from the floor or lower than 17” from the floor. In addition, such a toilet needs to have a lever-operated flush-system on the left side of its tank.

Why is my toilet flushing randomly on its own?

Also referred to as “phantom flushes”, random flushes are a common issue for many homeowners.

Over time, your water closet may develop a problem where it just flushes on its own at random intervals. When such a flush occurs in the middle of the night, it’s bound to catch you by surprise and send shivers down your spine. The most common culprit behind this issue is an incorrectly sealed flapper valve. Fortunately, this problem is extremely easy to fix – you only have to ensure that there’s nothing that could be blocking the valve from closing. In most cases, this will be a mineral deposit.

A continually running toilet produces a sound that is annoying at best and downright frustrating at worst. In addition, a large amount of water can be lost due to this issue, which is precisely why you have to fix it as quickly as possible.
